On July 3, 2024, the “Expert Debate on the Revised Draft of the Law on Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases” was held at the College Road Campus of China University of Political Science and Law. Mr. Wu Zeng, Deputy Director of the Legal System Working Committee of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), Mr. Liang Ying, Director of the Administrative Law Office, Mr. Song Fang, Deputy Director of the Administrative Law Office and other comrades attended the meeting, and Mr. Ma Huaide, the President of the China University of Political Science and Law, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Experts and scholars from Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Tsinghua University, Peking University, China University of Political Science and Law and other universities and research institutions attended the meeting, which was chaired by Zhao Peng, director of the Institute of Rule of Law Government of China University of Political Science and Law.

Experts and scholars at the meeting discussed issues such as classification and prevention of infectious diseases, sudden outbreaks of infectious diseases of unknown causes, prevention and control system of newly-emerged infectious diseases, complaint handling and improvement of legal remedy procedures of infectious disease prevention and control measures, and the relationship between the Law on Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases and other relevant laws, and put forward opinions and suggestions for the revision and improvement of the Law on Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases.
